Little Brown Bat This little brown bat is waiting for its turn to be weighted and tagged. Before being tagged the sex of the bat will be determined and a hair sample may be taken.
While this Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department researcher is handling this bat with her bare hands, you never should. She has been trained in how to properly handle wild animals and has received proper vaccinations. People who are not trained in how to handle bats, or other wild animals, should never touch a wild animal even if it seems fine. At no time during the bat surveys were any of the untrained volunteers allowed to touch the bats. |
